SCRIPT FOR NC GOVERNOR
Call: (919) 814-2000
Email: https://governor.nc.gov/contact/contact-governor-cooper
My name is [YOUR FIRST & LAST NAME], and I’m a resident of North Carolina. I am writing to express my deep disappointment regarding your statement concerning the recent violence between Israel and Gaza.
Your statement is a one-sided stance showing concern only for Israel with no acknowledgement of the ongoing and historical death of Palestinians. This unbalanced and biased stance may harm thousands of constituents who identify as Muslim, Palestinian, or Arab and call North Carolina home. I worry that this will lead to an environment of hostility for these communities in our schools, places of worship, and workplaces. Over the past 75 years, the Palestinian people have experienced immense suffering, displacement, and a 15-year long inhumane siege and blockade in Gaza, which has restricted them from accessing food, clean water, electricity, and medicine.
As Governor, you represent all constituents in North Carolina, many of whom are Palestinian Americans and are watching their families and loved ones being killed abroad, and feeling unheard and unseen by our state leaders.
I am asking you to issue a statement affirming the pain and suffering of Palestinians who are indiscriminately bombed by Israel at this very moment and the Palestinians and Muslims living in North Carolina who are worried for the safety of their families. I also ask that you do everything in your power to call for a ceasefire and an end to the genocide of Palestinians.
Thank you,

My name is [Your First and Last Name], and I’m a constituent of North Carolina. I am writing/calling to express my gratitude North Carolina House Representative Amber Baker for your refusal to support House Resolution 897, expressing unconditional support of Israel without acknowledging the pain and oppression Palestinians in Gaza have been undergoing for over 75 years.
Thank you for refusing to take a one-sided and unbalanced stance on the situation in Palestine and Israel that fail to acknowledge the realities, struggles, and humanity of Muslim, Palestinian, and Arab constituency members, which may contribute to an environment of hostility in our schools, places of worship, workplaces, and even our homes.
I appreciate you for standing against these unsettling trends. Your leadership in combating religious discrimination and hate crimes is crucial at this moment.
Thank you again for your courage and integrity in supporting the Palestinian people. The Muslim & Arab community stands with you, and we look forward to following your work and working alongside you.
