For the second issue of the Tabadul Collective Zine, we are exploring food.
How does food connect us? How is food used to delineate between different communities? Between different parts of ourselves? Are there specific dishes that instantly transport you to a moment in time? Are there food practices you grew up with that you find yourself returning to now? Are there dishes that you detest? Are those negative associations rooted in a memory, or a visceral sensory response? Please get detailed—tell us all about the texture, color, and of course, taste.
We accept unpublished visual and written submissions including art, photography, poetry, fiction, short essays, and recipes. For recipes, we would appreciate submissions that combine recipes with another element (for example, a recipe accompanied by art, or a recipe in the form of a poem or accompanied by poetry).
We will prioritize submissions from artists of color and artists who identify as Muslim, but all submissions are welcome, and deeply appreciated! Please send your submissions to tabadulcollective@gmail.com. If you have questions, you can DM us on Instagram at @tabadul-collective or e-mail.
SUBMISSION DEADLINE: June 30th
